A Cisco Cisco Certification Success Story

Kristen Cianci Job Title and Responsibilities: Network Specialist for the State of Connecticut University System
Certifications Held: Cisco CCNA?
Up Next: Kristen plans on obtaining her CCIE R&S?is currently in the process of recertifying for the CCNP.

Back when hardware upgrades meant adding a CD-ROM drive, soldering new circuits onto motherboards or installing a mouse, Kristen Cianci could be found doing just that. She was a single mom with three little ones, working in her father’s computer shop as a secretary When the shop got behind, she was shown how to do simple upgrades and repairs. She found herself troubleshooting Windows workgroups, supporting small networks and soon moved into field service work. It was 1993, and her IT career was off and running

Kristen first became aware of Cisco while working for a local municipality doing WAN upgrades on Cisco routers. She was a full time professional and active mother, and had no time left for formal classroom training. As a personal challenge, she earned her CCNA and CCNP through diligent self-study, peer mentorship, and practice, practice, practic.”I truly enjoy the troubleshooting aspect of networking,?”Kristen explained.”The challenge of finding a problem and fixing it is a thrill to me. I pursued a Cisco certification because they are the industry leader and all the gear I was upgrading to was Cisco equipment.”

Almost 15 years later, Kristen is a Network Specialist for the Connecticut State University System. She is responsible for fixing network outages, daily monitoring and maintenance, as well as a spearheading assigned networking projects.”Working for the state government in higher education is different from a corporate environment,”she said.”I enjoy the fact that keeping the network up and trouble free directly benefits the students working on their education.”

While she has worked along side other Cisco professionals in the past, she is the only certified individual she is aware of amongst her peers or at work.I have worked with CCIE’s on large projects in the past.Their presence is a huge benefit to any company.I learned a lot working alongside some great engineers.”Kristen is a lifetime learner.always looking ahead and seeking self-improvement through education.”I would love to become a CCIE R&S,” she continued,”and to work for a large support company on large networks. In addition to troubleshooting,I find security and forensics especially interesting.”

And Kristen said that she recommend CCNA online test engine provided by ExamsMarter.com which also provide many other valuable exams such as 70-297 70-238 1z0-042 642-432 70-284 that completly help you to pass your certification.

Cisco professional salary survey

In recent years, averages for all Cisco certifications are up -- and not just by a few thousand. For example, the average salary in 2004 for those of you who held a CCNA was $60,000 -- now, that number has jumped to a little more than $76,000. Higher-end Cisco certifications are also doing well, with, for example, the average CCIE reporting a salary of a little more than $116,000, up from $102,000 a few years ago.

So, if you are preparing your Cisco certification, you will not regret for the revenue you will get after being certified.
Even though those with Cisco certifications appear to be riding high right now, it's important to remember all the other factors that go into the average salaries -- and that they are averages. Experience, job skills (Cisco-related and others), your employer, your -- all of these will play heavily into what you earn.

Also remember that the job market -- in your area and overall -- can turn on a dime. So if you're new to IT (especially if you’re new to IT), don't think you'll be able to jump in and earn exactly what people in this survey are; the next 12 months may bring something complete different.

Children’s Eyeglasses and the Six Musts to Buying Them

Children’s Eyeglasses and the Six Musts to Buying Them
article source: ezinearticles.com

Many parents dread walking into an optical store in search of buying a pair of eyeglasses for their children. Not only is it a pain at time but it also can be a little confusing. There are so many children’s eye glass frames to choose from that even finding a starting point is difficult, but that’s only of the problems. What about deciding which ones your child would actually enjoy wearing or what frame will last longer than a few days?

Another problem us children’s eye glasses come in so many different styles and kid-friendly colors anymore. My answer to this is to let your child choose a few they like and then use those few as a base to make your selection. Let’s face it, the more they the pair of glasses they have, then the more likely it is that they will wear them.

Try asking your eye doctor to give you some specific recommendations about finding eyeglasses frames. The decision doesn’t need to be yours and yours alone. To help you out in deciding what to look for in a pair of eyeglasses, here are five rules to follow in your search:

* Scratch-resistant coating - The normal polycarbonate lenses that most people get their glasses made from contain a resistant coating already, but it is a good idea to upgrade to the heavy duty scratch-resistant coating for your kid’s glasses eyewear. This extra tough coating gives an even stronger resistance to possible scratching. Another plus with this type of coatings is the better warranty it comes with. Just be aware that no lenses are scratch proof especially when kids are involved.
* Spring hinges - The idea behind spring hinges is the flexibility they give the frame to bend outward when your child is putting on or taking off their glasses. Most kids just yank them right off their face instead of slowly with two hands. Actually most kid’s glasses break from this.
* Silicone nose pads - We’ve all seen these pads. They are what keep your glasses from falling down your face. The ones made from silicone are great for children because they tend to be soft and much more comfortable.
* Tinting - Most eye doctors do not recommend to buy glasses like tinting children’s glasses because it can be harmful to their eyes. Instead, look into photo-chromatic lenses as an alternative. These will automatically darken outside in the sunlight while lightening up as they come back into less lighted areas such as indoors. If these lenses are too expensive, another alternative is to just purchase a pair of clip-on tinted lenses attached to the frame.
* Warranties - Warranties for glasses usually vary from place to place especially when it comes to children’s glasses. You are in good shape if you can fine a warranty on a frame that runs for at least one year after the date of purchase. Anything longer than that is unneeded since the child will just outgrow the lenses or the frames

Eye Problems in Children

Eye Problems in Children

Each Child is important to an individual family. It is but natural that parents become anxious if there is any problem to any of the organs of the child. As the eyes are important and very precious, they would be concerned if their daughter or son has eye problems and to buy discount eyeglasses cheap eyeglasses or other eyeglasses online.

There are many eye problems that are commonly found in children. The major problem is the refractive error, the common mode of presentation is that the child is not able to see the distant objects usually seen in the school where the child fails to see clearly the letters written by the teacher on the blackboard. Most of the time the child holds the book very close to the eyes while reading. And also child watches TV with reading eyeglasses and Computers from a very close distance.
The other problems are – Vitamin A deficiency, Squint eyes and Retinoblastoma (Eye Cancer).

Refractive Errors:
There are mainly three types of refractive errors. Myopia, Hypermetropia and Astigmatism.

Myopia : This is the most common refractive error found in children. Usually it is detected when the child is having problem in seeing distant objects. Occasionally the child may have a slight pain in the eyes after reading for many hours. The light rays are focused in front of the retina in myopia with the result that the objects appear hazy.( If we have to see a clear object it has to be focused on the retina.) Sometimes it has a strong family history. The eye has to be properly examined by a competent Ophthalmologist (not by an Optometrist) and suitable glasses prescribed at the earliest. Regular follow - up is also a must in these children.
Astigmatism is another refractive error seen in children not as frequently as Myopia. Hypermetropia where the child has + numbers in glass, is comparatively less in frequency. Suitable eyeglasses correct both these refractive errors.

Vitamin A Deficiency:
Vitamin A Deficiency is demonstrated in school going children. Usually children in the age group of 6-12 years complain of night blindness. In other words those children have inability in seeing objects clearly in dim light. Sometimes small pigmented patches are seen by the side of the cornea. These are called Bitot’s spots. At this stage the child has lot of watering in the eyes.

A substance called visual purple has to be created in the retina to visualize objects clearly in the dim light. Vitamin A is necessary to create this object. When there is deficiency of Vitamin A in the diet, child gets night blindness. Sometimes some skin problems are associated along with eye problems.
Vitamin A deficiency is treated by giving capsules of Vit.A 2500-5000 IU or 750 mg of beta-carotene. In severe cases injections may be needed. Green leafy vegetables, carrots, milk, curd, butter, egg, liver etc., have rich contents of Vitamin A.

Squint Eyes : The two eyes normally should be in a definite visual axis. A manifest deviation of the visual axis of either eye is known as squint or strabismus. Mainly there are two types of squints – Paralytic and Non-paralytic or Concomitant. Concomitant is the one which is mostly seen in children. Concomitant deviations are for the most part, produced by anomalies of the power of convergence and divergence and the co-ordinated use of the two eyes to obtain binocular single vision. In these cases the amount and character of the deviation does not vary when the eyes are turned to the right or left.

The other classification of squint is – Convergent and Divergent. Convergent squint is the one in which one of the eye is turned inside, whereas in divergent squint one of the eye is turned outside.

Each child with squint has to be properly investigated before undertaking treatment. The common methods of treatment are – 1) Correcting the refractive errors by glasses whenever that is found to be the cause of the squint. 2) Deliberate occlusion or patching of the fixing eye so as to improve the vision of the squinting eye. 3) Suggesting special type of ( Orthoptic) exercises to improve the binocular faculties. 4) By surgery to restore parallelism of the visual axis. One or more of these methods or all four may be needed.

Retinoblastoma: It is the cancer or malignant tumor of the eye , usually seen in children below 5 years. It may be seen at birth or later. This disease not only affects the vision, but also life itself if it is not diagnosed and treated properly at an appropriate time. It may be seen in one eye or both.
Usually the child is brought to the eye specialist with the complaint that something white or yellow material is seen in the eye. If one eye is swollen enormously, it is understood that the disease is advanced. Treatment is usually removal of the eyeball as soon as the disease is diagnosed and the cut portion sent for biopsy. After the removal of the eyeball, if there are any signs of the disease,

Radiotherapy is advised. At this stage the other eye is examined and if any traces are found it is also subjected to radiotherapy. In the advanced stage of the disease, it is mandatory to treat with chemotherapy.
Apart from these eye injuries, congenital cataract and glaucoma are the other diseases of children. Parents and teachers have great responsibility in the proper management of the eye diseases

Types of contact lenses:By frequency of replacement

Buy glasses online:discount eyeglasses cheap eyeglasses sunglasses online
The various soft contact lenses available are often categorized by their replacement schedule. The shortest replacement schedule is single use (daily disposable) lenses, which are disposed of each night. These may be best for patients with ocular allergies or other conditions, because it limits deposits of antigens and protein. Single use lenses are also useful for people who use contacts infrequently, or for purposes (e.g. swimming or other sporting activities) where losing a lens is likely. More commonly, contact lenses are prescribed to be disposed of on a two-week or monthly basis.

Quarterly or annual lenses used in reading eyeglasses of titanium frames or metal frames , which used to be very common, have lost favor because a more frequent disposal schedule allows for thinner lenses and limits deposits. Rigid gas permeable lenses are very durable and may last for several years without the need for replacement. PMMA hard lenses were very durable, and were commonly worn for 5 to 10 years.

Types of contact lenses:By design

Types of contact lenses:By design

A spherical contact lens is one in which both the inner and outer optical surfaces are portions of a sphere. A toric lens in cheap eyeglasses is one in which either or both of the optical surfaces have the effect of a cylindrical lens, usually in combination with the effect of a spherical lens. Myopic (nearsighted) and hypermetropic (farsighted) people who also have astigmatism and who have been told they are not suitable for regular contact lenses may be able to use toric lenses. If one eye has astigmatism and the other does not, the patient may be told to use a spherical lens in one eye and a toric lens in the other. Toric lenses are made from the same materials as regular contact lenses but have a few extra characteristics than other glasses like plastic frames They correct for both spherical and cylindrical aberration.
They may have a specific ‘top’ and ‘bottom’, as they are not symmetrical around their centre and must not be rotated. Lenses not in metal frames must be designed to maintain their orientation regardless of eye movement. Often lenses are thicker at the bottom and this thicker zone is pushed down by the upper eyelid during blinking to allow the lens to rotate into the correct position (with this thicker zone at the 6 o’clock position on the eye). Toric lenses are usually marked with tiny striations to assist their fitting.

They are usually more expensive to produce than non-toric lenses in discount eyeglasses ; therefore they are usually meant for extended wear. The first disposable toric lenses were introduced in 2000 by Vistakon.
Like eyeglasses, contact lenses and sunglasses online can have one (single vision) or more (multifocal) focal points.

For correction of presbyopia or accommodative insufficiency multifocal contact lenses are almost always used; however, single vision lenses may also be used in a process known as monovision[32]: single vision lenses are used to correct one eye’s far vision and the other eye’s near vision. Alternatively, a person may wear single vision contact lenses to improve distance vision and reading glasses to improve near vision.

Rigid gas permeable bifocal contact lenses most commonly have a small lens on the bottom for the near correction, when the eyes are lowered to read, this lens comes into the optical path. RGPs must translate (move vertically) to work properly, and thus the gaze of the eye can change from the near to the distant sections, much like bifocal eyeglasses.

Multifocal soft contact lenses are more complex to manufacture and require more skill to fit. All soft bifocal contact lenses are considered “simultaneous vision” because both far and near vision corrections are presented simultaneously to the retina, regardless of the position of the eye. Of course, only one correction is correct, the incorrect correction causes blur. Commonly these are designed with distance correction in the center of the lens and near correction in the periphery, or vice versa.

What are contact lenses?

What are contact lenses?

A contact lens (also known simply as a “contact”) is a corrective, cosmetic, or therapeutic lens usually placed on the cornea of the eye. Modern soft contact lenses were invented by the Czech chemist Otto Wichterle, who also invented the first gel used for their production

Contact lenses is also a kind of optical glasses with special glasses lens usually serve the same corrective purpose as conventional glasses like prescription sunglasses but are lightweight and virtually invisible—many commercial lenses are tinted a faint blue to make them more visible when immersed in cleaning and storage solutions.

Some cosmetic lenses are deliberately colored to alter the appearance of the eye.It has been estimated that 125 million people use contact lenses worldwide (2%),including 28 to 38 million in the United States and 13 million in Japan. The types of lenses used and prescribed vary markedly between countries, with rigid lenses accounting for over 20% of currently-prescribed lenses in Japan, Netherlands and Germany but less than 5% in Scandinavia. People choose to wear contact lenses for various reasons. Buy discount eyeglasses , cheap eyeglasses online.

Many consider their appearance to be more attractive with contact lenses than with glasses. Contact lenses are less affected by wet weather, do not steam up, and provide a wider field of vision. They are more suitable for a number of sporting activities.

Additionally, ophthalmological conditions such as keratoconus and aniseikonia may not be accurately corrected with glasses.

What should be considered when you choose contact lenses?

Posted on 2008-09-18

What should be considered when you choose contact lenses?

When you are choosing contact lenses, not eyeglass frames , optical eyeglasses , many factors should be considered including your lifestyle, health, astigmatism, corneal curvature, allergies, dry eyes, hygiene, previous over-wear,frequency of use and so on.Seeing your Optometrist will help you determine the best type of contact lenses for your eyes.

1. A Good Eye Health?
Before you decide to wear contact lenses, not classic eyeglasses or bifocal eyeglasses , you should cheak for your eye health. You can wear only if you have a good health. The healthiest type of lens is the daily disposable soft lens. These lenses are always sterile when inserted into the eyes as they are never kept overnight. This means that no dirt, bugs or tear proteins can accumulate which all have the potential to cause problems. Fortnightly and Monthly disposables are also available which still require daily cleaning and overnight storage with contact lens solutions.

2. Have Astigmatism?
Normally, your eye is shape like a tennis ball. But with astigmatism, your eye is not perfectly round like a tennis ball.At a certain level of astigmatism the contact lens prescription needs to be “tailor-made” in order for you to see clearly. Lenses that cater to astigmatism are called Torics and are available in both rigid and soft form.
Nowdays, you can buy discount eyeglasses , cheap eyeglasses online
It is often possible to fit a normal rigid contact lens and correct the problem without the need for a Toric with lower levels of astigmatism. If you have mainly short or long-sight with very little astigmatism, a normal soft contact lens is generally fine for you just.

3.What are lifestyle?
Your lifestyle often determines your the requirements of sight correction, which in turn influences the type of contact lens suitable. And if you may work in an office and use the computer all day, for which you wear spectacles; perhaps you play golf, or football once per week and find that your spectacles “steam up”?A limited supply of daily disposables just for sport would be your best option rather than monthly disposables, which require cleaning and will not be used often enough to make them worthwhile.
If you are a rugby player and require good side vision in order to perform optimally, full-time contact lens wear is probably your wisest option.
Frequent jet-setters may prefer spectacles as contact lenses inevitably dry out whilst flying. Whatever your lifestyle, your optometrist will prescribe contact lenses tailored to your needs

4.Have Any Allergies?
Hayfever, eczema or asthma sufferers may find contact lenses more uncomfortable than most people. Allergies can create an over-sensitized eye, rendering increased lens awareness. Also, the eye reacts to dirt and proteins on the lens much more and may cause the upper eyelid to develop bumps. This is called contact lens related papillary Conjunctivitis. The best solution for those with severe allergies is to wear lenses infrequently (up to 3 times/week) and to use daily disposables. If your lifestyle requires you to use lenses constantly, then disposables are still the best option. Occasionally some individuals are allergic to a certain lens material or a certain lens solution.

5.With Dry Eyes?
If you suffer from chronic dry, smarting eyes. It may cause increased lens awareness after some hours of lens wear. Your optometrist will prescribe an alternative lens with a different water content, fitting or material, in order to improve the comfort. Preservative-free contact lens comfort drops are also advised.

6.Your Frequency Of Use.
Are you only wish to use contact lenses for a sporting activity once per week? If you are,a daily disposable will be most suitable from both a health and cost perspective. Rigid lenses are not recommended as they need to be used most days in order to achieve best comfort. Those who wear their lenses sporadically may wish to consider fortnightly or monthly disposables. Your optometrist will be able to discuss the various options most suited to your requirements.

7.Your Previous Over-wear
If you have previously over-worn your contact lenses, your eyes will need more oxygen. So you may be told to use a higher water content, or higher Dk, lens.Because it may be a soft or rigid lens. Remember to give your eyes a break and use your spectacles one day per week.Just remember.

8.Other factors
Such as corneal curvature, hygiene and so on to be considered.

Aspheric Eyeglasses Lenses

Posted on 2008-09-18

Aspheric Eyeglasses Lenses

It should be well known that the aspheric prescription lenses is important for optometrists to provide better vision to their patients.Althrough aspheric eyeglass lenses are thinner and of less weight, provide better off axis performance. Because through a wider portion of the lens,Aspheric eyeglass lenses alloers increased visual acuity.

An aspheric eyeglass lenses is just a kind of lens when eyeglasses sale varying slightly from a fine, spherical shape. But why is it important to an optician when designing a lens? When designing a lens an optician has to deal with a few aberrations to design a lens that improves the patient’s sight. These aberrations include spherical aberration, coma, radial astigmatism, curvature of field, and distortion. These five aberrations collectively are just known as Seidel Aberrations described by Ludwig Von Seidel in the 1850’s.Why aspheric eyeglass lenses not rimless glasses or flexible glasses can correct the spherical aberration.

Here is an example:It can be shown in the picture that when the eye is looking straight ahead the ray has a shorter distance to focus than if the eye was rotated to look through the periphery of the lens. When we buy discount eyeglasses , We must account for this change in vertex distance,or distance between the lens and eye, otherwise we will be out of focus when viewing objects through the periphery. And the change in curvature can be used by aspheric eyeglass lenses to accommodate for the change in distance. And with the designed optical eyewear aspheric eyeglass lenses, the patient can have much improved sight through the periphery of the lens right now.

This is just why designed aspheric eyeglass lenses became more and more popular in our daily prescription eyeglass wear.

Abbreviations and Terms

Introduce:
An eyeglass prescription is a written order by an optometrist or ophthalmologist to an optician for eyeglasses such as reading glasses , optical frames It specifies the refractive power to which the eyeglasses are to be made in order to correct blurred vision due to refractive errors, including myopia, hyperopia, astigmatism, and presbyopia. It is typically determined using a phoropter or an automated refractor.

Abbreviations and terms:
Similar to medical prescriptions, eyeglass prescriptions of titanium glasses , metal glasses , plastic glasses are written on paper pads that frequently contain a number of different abbreviations and terms:

* D.V. is an abbreviation for “distance vision”. This specifies the part of the prescription designed primarily to improve far vision. In a bifocal lens, this generally indicates what is to be placed in the top segment.
* N.V. is an abbreviation for “near vision”. This may represent a single-vision lens prescription to improve near work, or the reading portion of a bifocal lens. Some cheap eyeglasses prescription forms use “ADD” in place of “N.V.” with a single box to indicate the additional refractive power to be added to the spherical of each eye.
* O.D. is an abbreviation for oculus dexter, Latin for “right eye.” (Some eyeglass prescriptions simply say “left” and “right” instead of “O.S.” and “O.D.”) Oculus means “eye” (as in “oculist,” an old term for an eye doctor).

* O.S. is an abbreviation for oculus sinister, Latin for “left eye”.
* O.U. is an abbreviation for oculi uterque, Latin for “both eyes”.
* A spherical correction corrects the refractive error of the eye by adding or subtracting refractive strength symmetrically, by the same amount, along the horizontal and vertical axis.
* A cylindrical correction corrects the astigmatic refractive error of the eye by adding or subtracting strength along the horizontal axis, the vertical axis, or a diagonal axis.
* The Axis is the horizontal, vertical or diagonal angle of the cylindrical correction. The axis is measured in a clock face that starts with zero degrees in the 9 o’clock (or west) direction, and increases through 90 and 180 degrees in a counter-clockwise direction.
Most eyeglass prescriptions will contain values here. The “spherical” and “cylindrical” columns contain lens strengths in diopters (see below); “axis” contains the direction of the cylinder axis in degrees.

* Prism and Base are usually left empty, as they are not seen in most prescriptions. Prism refers to a displacement of the image through the lens, and is used to treat muscular imbalance or other conditions (see vergence dysfunction) that cause errors in eye orientation. Prism correction is measured in “prism diopters”, and Base refers to the direction of displacement.
* PD is the distance between pupils, or Pupillary Distance, usually given in millimeters, and written as two values if the prescription is for bifocals or progressive lenses - these are the pupillary distances for the upper and lower lens. They differ due to pupillary convergence when looking at nearby objects.

Lens strength

Posted on 2008-09-18

Lens strength

The values indicated in the “sphere” and “cylinder” columns of an glasses frame prescription specify the optical power of the lenses in diopters, abbreviated D. The higher the number of diopters, the more the lens refracts or bends light. A diopter is the reciprocal of the focal length in meters. If a lens has a focal length of 1/3 meters, it is a 3 diopter lens.A +10 diopter lens, which has a focal length of 10 centimeters, would make a good magnifying glass. Eyeglass lenses are usually much weaker, because eyeglasses do not work by magnifying; when buy glasses they work by correcting focus. The eye itself has a refractive power of 60 diopters.Stacking lenses combines their strength. A +1 diopter lens combined with a +2 diopter lens forms a +3 diopter system.

Lenses of plastic eyeglasses , metal eyeglasses come in positive (plus) and negative (minus) powers. Given that a positive power lens will magnify an object and a negative power lens will reduce it, it is often possible to tell whether a lens is positive or negative by looking through it.

Positive eyeglass lenses can concentrate sunlight.
This series of pictures shows the shadow cast by a pair of 1 diopter drugstore “reading glasses” outdoors in sunlight as we hold it farther and farther away from a wall. You can buy discount eyeglasses , cheap eyeglasses online .As the distance from the wall increases, the shadow of the frame seems to thicken and the bright area in the center gets smaller and brighter. It slowly changes from being “eyeglass-shaped” to circular.

Negative lenses spread sunlight instead of concentrating it.
A negative lens combined with a positive lens removes some of its strength. A -2 lens combined with a +5 lens forms a +3 diopter system.
A -3 lens stacked on top of a+3 lens looks almost like flat glass, because combined strength is 0.

In science textbooks, positive lenses are usually diagrammed as convex on both sides; negative lenses are usually diagrammed as concave on both sides. In a real optical system, the best optical quality is usually achieved where most rays of light are roughly normal (i.e., at a right angle) to the lens surface. In the case of an eyeglass lens, this means that the lens should be roughly shaped like a cup with the hollow side toward the eye, so most eyeglass lenses are menisci in shape.

Corrective lens:What is?

A corrective lens is a lens worn in front of the eye, mainly used to treat myopia, hyperopia, astigmatism, and presbyopia. Glasses or “spectacles” including reading eyeglasses , prescription eyeglasses , imless frames are worn on the face a short distance in front of the eye. Contact lenses are worn directly on the surface of the eye. Intraocular lenses are surgically implanted most commonly after cataract removal, but recently for purely refractive purposes. Myopia (near sightedness) requires a divergent lens, whereas hyperopia (far sightedness) requires convergent lens.

The History of Ray Ban Sunglasses and Eye Protection

The History of Ray Ban Sunglasses and Eye Protection
Article Source: ezinearticles.com

If you have ever seen Tom Cruise in “Risky Business”, you will remember two things. The first being the most famous scene from that movie, the one where he comes sliding into the living room dancing in his underwear, and the second, how good he looked in those sunglasses in eyeglasses stores . Cruise sported Ray Ban sunglasses in this movie and they became as big a hit as the movie itself. By the time this movie was made in 1983 however, Ray Ban had already been making popular sunglasses for 46 years.

The optical firm Bausch and Lomb launched the first Ray Ban sunglasses in 1936, which were anti-glare aviator sunglasses. They were the first to use polarized technology, which was developed by Edwin H. Land, the founder of the Polaroid Corporation. These dark glasses had large lenses, about two or three times the size of the eye socket, in the shape of an oblique teardrop. Instead of being flat, these glasses were slightly convex. The goal of these large, curved glasses was to protect the eyes from every angle for optimal protection from the sun. In the 1940’s, Ray Ban was hired by the US Air Force to develop these glasses even further for use by air force pilots. The Aviator glasses soon became popular with the other branches of the US military as well and when General Douglas MacArthur was photographed landing on a beach in the Philippines during World War II, he was wearing a pair of Ray Bans.

Ray Ban has relied on photographs of celebrities to promote their eyewear throughout the years. The Blues Brothers, Miami Vice’s Don Johnson, Michael Jackson, and Madonna are just a few of the people who join Tom Cruise as Ray Ban wearers and promoters. Ray Ban Aviators have remained in style for decades but this company also moved with the times in terms of its other models. There were bright, colorful frames used in designer prescription glasses and designer spectacles to reflect the style of the 60’s, big flashy shades in the 70’s, and sportier designs of the 80’s.

From the beginning, Ray Ban sunglasses have been at the forefront of eye protection technology. These glasses stay in style not only because of their celebrity appeal but also because they are well made and practical.

Why Sunglasses Are Effective

Why Sunglasses Are Effective
Article Source: ezinearticles.com

All your life you have heard about the importance of eyeglasses. You are probably aware that they are used to protect your eyes, blocking them from sunlight and preserving your vision. But do you know how sunglasses actually do all that? Apart from complementing your look, they work in four different ways. You should learn what these are and make sure that your sunglasses are actually doing the work they are meant to.

buy eyeglasses online : discount eyeglasses cheap eyeglasses sunglasses online

Ultraviolet rays are present in sunlight and these can cause damage the corneas. Sunglasses help give your eyes protection from the dangerous UV rays, and good ones give your eyes 100% protection. A coating is put outside the lenses of the sunglasses which acts as a UV filter. It allows light to pass through, so you can see, but blocks out the UV light which can harm your eyes.

The most common reason people wear sunglasses is to get protection from the glare of sunlight. Powerful sunlight can make you close your eyes or narrow them, thus causing a squint. This is a natural reaction which protects the corneas. It is not just bright sunlight which can cause damage, but also glare from the snow, because snow reflects the sunlight highly intensified and magnified, so it can be even more dangerous.

Sunglasses are tinted according to your requirements, based on how much light protection is needed. Just as there are different types of light, the various shades of the lenses of sunglasses also protect your eyes in their differing ways. Among the good lens colors are gray and almost black which give the most protection from powerful light, at the same time not distorting colors.

Of utmost importance is the fact the sunglasses safeguard your eyes from glare. The sunlight reflects off water and shiny surfaces which amplify the light and cause glare, which can be blinding if you don’t wear sunglasses and can even cause accidents. Good sunglasses shield eyes from this kind of glare.

Just as sound waves vibrate so do light waves and when a group comes together, the result is a glare. If you get blinded by glare off water or glass (like the windshield of a car), you see a combination of light waves. There are polarization filters which are used in the lenses of sunglasses which realign the waves and thus get rid of the glare.

Sunglasses can eradicate particular light frequencies which can cause vision to blur or change colors. Therefore selecting the correct color of the lenses of the sunglasses helps them protect your eyes in different conditions.

If you want to block out blue light, then you ought to be wearing sunglasses whose lenses are yellow, gold, amber or brown. Blue light is the major color which causes blurred vision. Even though yellow lenses have a tendency to distort other colors, their benefits far outweigh their disadvantages.

Similar to yellow lenses, green lenses also filter blue light and help in protecting eyes from glare. Their higher contrast features and the fact that they offer great visual sharpness also make them extremely popular. Other colored lenses are rose and purple, and they give the best contrast and protection in the green or blue background. That is why they are good for hunting and water skiing.

What Are Prescription Eyeglasses Made Of?

Posted on 2008-09-11

What Are Prescription Eyeglasses Made Of?

Prescription eyeglasses and prescription sunglasses are manufactured in a variety of materials. The most basic is the glass lens. The glass lens is by far the best in absorbing ultraviolet light. It comes in several different colors and is, of course, scratch resistant. It is also one of the least expensive. The downfall to the glass lens is the weight of a pair of prescription eyeglasses made of glass. They are also very breakable and have to undergo a heat-treated process to ensure durability.

Another material used to manufacture prescription eyeglasses including bifocal eyeglasses , rimless glasses are the High-Index plastic lens. It also absorbs ultra violet light well. This type of lens is much lighter in weight than the glass lens; however, they are also very expensive and can be scratched very easily.

Resin Plastic is another type of material used in manufacturing the prescription eyeglass lens. They are the lightest of all lenses, but do not offer the high level of protection against ultra violet light like classic eyeglasses that the other lenses offer.

Some prescription eyeglasses are tinted with a wide variety of colors and shades. The purpose of the tint is to reduce the glare from certain situations: such as bright lights, computers television sets, etc. Another reason for the tinting of the lenses are to offer comfort to the eyes. Also, people order tints on their rimless eyewear and eyeglasses for the fashion.

Glass and most plastic lenses are coated with a UV protection coating. Ultra violet rays can cause severe damage to the eyes. It is very important to protect your eyes while out in the sun.

Another coating that is added to a pair of prescription eyeglasses is the scratch-resistant coating. Sometimes this coating is applied at the manufacturer and other times it can be added right there at the eye doctors office. It must be said, however, that even while this coating can aid in the durability of the lens, it does not make the lens scratch proof.

Focusing on Contact Lens Safety:Tips for Buying

Focusing on Contact Lens Safety:Tips for Buying
(article source:www.fda.gov)

valid prescription, it is possible to purchase contact lenses or women eyeglasses from stores, the Internet, over the phone or by mail. But be extremely cautious when buying contacts from someone other than your eye care professional.

Contact lenses are NOT over-the-counter devices. Companies that sell them as such are misbranding the device and violating FTC regulations by selling you contact lenses or men eyeglasses without having your prescription.

Avoiding problems

* Make sure your prescription is current. Don’t order with an expired prescription, and don’t stock up on lenses right before the prescription is about to expire. If you haven’t had your eyes checked within the last year or two, you may have eye problems that you are not aware of, or your lenses may not correct your vision well.
* Order from a supplier that you are familiar with and know is reliable.
* Request the manufacturer’s written patient information for your contact lenses or kids eyeglasses . It will give you important risk/benefit information and instructions for use.
* Beware of attempts to substitute a different brand than you presently have. There are differences in the water content and shape among the brands. The correct choice of which lens is right for you should be based only on an examination by your eye care professional.
* Make sure that you get the exact brand, lens name,

power, sphere, cylinder (if any), axis (if any), fashion eyeglasses , diameter, base curve, and peripheral curves (if any) noted on the prescription. If you think you’ve received an incorrect lens, check with your eye care professional. Don’t accept a substitution unless your eye care professional approves it.

Choosing the Perfect Eyeglasses Eyeglass Frames

Choosing the Perfect Eyeglasses Eyeglass Frames
Article Source: http://EzineArticles.com

When you put on a new pair of reading eyeglasses, it can change your whole reading appearance. You can go from drab and boring to sleek and sexy by choosing the right pair of prescription eyeglasses. You want to pick something that matches your personality and lifestyle. Most people can benefit from more than one pair of cheap eyeglasse especially if they have an active life. Experts agree if you are a conservative person, stay with shapes such as rectangles or ovals in either thin plastic or metals. Rimless eyeglasses and prescription glasses three-piece mountings can also be a good choice. For you more creative types, modern shapes work best in thicker or larger plastics. Good color choices for your eye glass frames include blue, green and purple. If you shop on line often, you know you will get great prices on eyeglasses.

Choosing the right eyeglass frames will make or break the image you are after. There is a huge selection of different materials to choose from. If you like color, then zly or zylonite is your best option. It is super cost effective, is colorful and is light weight. If you have allergies, then we suggest proprionate which is nylon-based and again very light. Other blended nylon is the prime material for sports and performance eyeglasses. Nylon is easily molded so it is often used in the wrap around styles. Now if you like the metal look, you have a number of options. Titanium is becoming very popular because of its strength, durability and resistance to corrosion. Flexon is often referred to as “memory metal” because it can go back to its original shape if bent or damaged. If you want a pair that is super light and very trendy, rimless eyeglasses is your choice.

Now that you have the right eyeglass frames, it’s time to choose the proper lenses. We highly recommend polycarbonate lenses as they are thinner and lighter than plastic. They also offer UV protection from the sun’s harmful rays. Other great features of these lenses are they are both scratch and impact resistant. Polycarbonate lenses are recommended in sports, children’s and safety eyeglasses. All of these are available on line at a number of retailers that offer eyeglasses. They also offer a full range of designer styles including my favorite rimless eyeglasses at fantastic prices.

Titanium Eyeglasses Is OK?
Article Source: http://EzineArticles.com

It seems that everything these days is made from titanium. It used to be really something to have an aluminum bicycle frame.(not rimless frames ) Now you can get a titanium (oooo!) flexible frames . My wedding ring is titanium. Plus all that aerospace and airplane stuff is titanium. What else is often titanium, you ask? Eyeglass frames, of course! But before we go down that road, let’s talk more about the metal.

titanium frames comes out of the ground. In rocks. It is popular because of a very high strength-to-weight ratio (thanks wiki!) To use an example, it might take a pound of steel to hold up king kong, but it only takes 1/2 a pound of titanium metal frames to do the same thing. While heavier than aluminum, pound-for-pound, titanium is twice as strong.

The benefits for using titanium in eyeglass frames now seems obvious. This metal will result in frames that are equally as strong as steel frames yet are only half the weight. Titanium makes a lot of sense. Don’t let any retailer tell you it will change the world, but it will provide a lighter pair of glasses equally as strong as a steel pair better than plastic frames . Also, the other side of this is that if you know you’ll only be wearing a pair of glasses an hour or two at a time (e.g., sunglasses or fashion glasses), you might get the best bang for your buck out of cheaper steel frames.

A final note is that titanium is often alloyed, or combined, with other metals such as nickel. Some titanium frames are 100% and some are alloys. Unfortunately, the online retailers don’t seem to be disclosing this information. I will contact a few and post again in a couple of days. Generally, you want to avoid an alloyed frame if you are allergic to nickel or other metals with which titanium might be alloyed. The rationale behind the alloying process is that the manufacturing process is easier and the titanium becomes easier to manipulate.

Change how the World Sees Just With The Perfect Pair of Eyeglasses
Article Source: http://EzineArticles.com

I don’t know about you, but I can never find a pair of eye glasses frames that fit my face while looking fashionable at the same time. I almost dread going shopping for them when the time comes. For many people like myself, how a pair of eyeglasses look on our face is the single most important aspect of finding the perfect pair of eyeglass frames. The only thing you need to do to make sure you pick out the perfect eyewear is to simply find one that suits the shape of your face.

Eyeglasses are more than just means to an end. They do far more than just helping you see the world, as they are important fashion statements with huge effect on your appearance. If you’ve ever had the misfortune of buying glasses that just don’t look right on you, these following tips can hopefully help you out for next time. After a long and frustrating process of finding the perfect glasses frame to fit your face shape, here are a few tips to help you out:

* What you want to do first off is inspect your face to see what kind of shape it is. To do this you need to pull your hair back into a ponytail if you have long hair and look at it closely in a mirror. Different face
* shapes require different frame styles. Oval faces, for example, are proportionally balanced on the top and bottom. Any frame type will work with an oval face.
* People with long, thin faces need a larger frame that gives off the impression of a wider and shorter than it really is face. buy glasses frames in round or triangular shapes. Even a wide, rectangular shape can work with this type of face. Another way to broaden a long, thin face is to wear a frame that has color around the sides of it. More people are starting to wear round frames that are made from a thin metal. This look softens the hard, angular look of a square face, of someone with wide forehead and cheeks, and an angular chin.
* Round faces are fuller and have a soft, gentle chin, wide cheeks and smaller cheekbones. For all of these mentioned reasons is why people with this type of face shouldn’t wear round frames. It will only give off the impression of a large face. You don’t want that. Instead, wear boxy or rectangular ones and go with a lighter color to make you face appear less heavy.
* If you find yourself having a heart-shaped face, then your best bet is balance with frames that are wider at the bottom and narrower at the top. This looks much better for faces with a wide forehead that angles down to a smaller chin.
* There are a good number of people with a diamond-shaped face. This means that they have a narrow forehead, wide temples and an small angular chin. Flatter these facial features with small frames that have geometric or oval shapes minimizing the horizontal distance between the temples.
* If you have any facial features, then you it is a smart decision to buy a smaller pair of frames, especially with a beard. Large frames only mask your features that you want to show off. Small heads need to stick to wearing small frames that are no wider than the widest part of your face. Never wear glasses that look like they are tight on your face and squeezing it.

Tips for Repairing Broken Eyeglass Frames

Tips for Repairing Broken Eyeglass Frames
Article Source: http://EzineArticles.com

If you’re one of the millions in the US who wear eyeglasses incluing rimless eyeglasses , metal eyeglasses , plastic eyeglasses then I’m sure you’ve had the unfortunate experience of having them easily broken or something randomly becoming loose. I know I’m lucky to have. I think that everyone who wears or has worn glasses, has gone through that. Let’s face it, sooner or later our eyeglasses will break and we will need to repair them.

It’s so frustrating sometimes that you just want to throw them as far as you can. Even the most expensive, well built designs don’t survive the simplest of accidents. While fixing them may be annoying and frustrating, it is still pretty easy. All it takes is an inexpensive titanium eyeglasses repair kit, and you can perform minor repairs on eyeglass frames. Here are a few simple to follow steps for you the next time you are stuck fixing your eyeglasses yourself:

* Before you can fix what’s wrong you need figure out what’s wrong. I recommend using a nice magnifying glass to try and find the problem which is in need of repair. Most of the time, the problem is small and difficult to see such as a loose or missing screw or a broken hinge on an arm.
* Ok, let’s say you found the issue and it’s a stretched out hinge. To repair this, you first will get a pair of needle nose pliers and cover the tips of it to bend the hinge gently back into place. Covering the tips of the pliers prevents the lenses and frame from becoming scratched or damaged. A very small rubber band or rubber ring, found in many flexible eyeglasses repair kits, can also hold a loose hinge in place.
* Perhaps a screw is loose on your eyeglass frame. This is fixed by tightening the screw with one of those tiny screwdrivers that come in eyeglass repair kits. If you can’t get your hands on one of these screwdrivers, you can get away with using the tip of a paring knife to serve the same purpose. After you have tightened the screw up in the frame, I find that dabbing a little clear nail polish on the hinge screw will hold it firmly in place. Remember to let the polish dry before putting the glasses back on.
* Let’s say not only is the screw loose but it is now lost. Buy an eyeglass repair kit and replace the screw with one of the screws found in the kit. Miniature safety pins can also work by slipping into the screw hole and closing the pin. Never force the screw into the hole if it won’t fit. The last thing you want to do is strip the threads.
* Often times with some eyeglasses the metal hinge will break from the frame. To repair this, you’ll wash both surfaces and then try to scrape as much paint or glue away. Then using a toothpick, lightly dab on some fast-bonding glue to the break. Be sure to keep the two pieces held together for about a minute or two so the glue can dry and set.
* One final problem with eyeglass is the ear-piece slipping off the frame. Simply, re-adhere it back on with fast-bonding glue.

A Jewelry Project Can Be Made Or Breaked by Just Jewelry Making Findings
Re. articles.fjewelrystore.com

Jewelry making findings are the essential pieces which make the bead and wire a piece of jewelry. Jewelry making findings are simply the components of any piece of jewelry; the findings consist of clasps, head pins, ear clutches, jump rings and any other manufactured or hand made component. Separate headings of ‘Findings” are listed in all jewelry making supply catalogs or websites. A craft or hobby store will have the header listed in their jewelry supply area. Jewelry making findings is a major revenue business all by itself.

Ear Wire

Ear wires are the jewelry making findings that are used to connect a beautiful earring body to the wearer’s ear. Ear wires are essential when making earrings; they are generally silver, gold and copper. There is also silver and gold plated, as well as, gold filled. The 22 gauge is the size which is most used in ear wires.

The ear wires are inexpensive to manufacture and are sold in bulk. Ear wires can also be made by hand, and this could be a way to distinguish your work from a manufactured earring. There are many books and websites which contain instructions for different patterns of ear wires.

Zip Lock Bags

Small zip lock bags are also considered jewelry making findings. Plastic zip lock bags or small fabric pouches are items which must be considered when selling your jewelry or keeping it safe. Oils and everyday pollution will harm your jewelry making findings and, therefore, must be kept in containers before and after they are made into jewelry.

Sizes of these bags depend upon your necklace, bracelet and earring projects. But jewelry making findings must always include small bags of some capacity.

Clasps

Toggle clasps, jump rings, lobster clasps, S clasps and magnetic clasps are all examples of jewelry making findings. These are all necessary components to make any necklace or bracelet work. Your beads or crystals, wire or chains and clasps is all that it takes to make a spectacular necklace or bracelet. But your findings are absolutely essential in the making of these necklaces and bracelets.

There are many more examples, but the ones that are listed above are the essential pieces. When researching for jewelry making findings, look for quality first. In jewelry making findings you really do get more ‘bang for your buck’.

Spend a little more for your findings and your customers will turn into repeat customers and you won’t turn into a jewelry repair business. When all is said and done, jewelry making findings can literally make or break your jewelry making projects.

How To Achieve Success In Jewelry Making
Re.articles.fjewelrystore.com

One day, you buy your first plier and some rolls of wire and make your first loop. Disastrous, of course. You add one bead and painstakingly get to add the hook and you feel like the Queen of Jewelry Land. You actually get it to make a pair. Double feeling of being the queen.

To enjoy the dignity Tiffany Jewelery bring you,you just need a:

Tiffany Pendant,Tiffany Ring,Tiffany Cufflinks

Years go by and you keep working. Adding the hooks does not take hours anymore, so you start adding little embellishments, maybe a spiral loop. During these years, you learn the hard way all the ways you can make mistakes in this business. A few times along the way you decide you won’t make it anymore and maybe ramble with other arts, but pliers and wire always call you back and you find yourself awake at 5 AM because you suddenly woke up with that necklace design in your head. But it are not easy. It makes you mad to think whhy others can? while you can’t seem to make it. Your artist ego is frustrated. You are tired of going nowhere. Things like marketing, advertising and promoting sound like from another world. A scary world. You are an artist, you are not a salesperson. But maybe you can’t quit your day job because you wouldn’t bay your bills selling jewelry.

But then, one day, you start working patiently and silently. Do not argue anymore about your doomed fate and overcome yourself by working seriously, making a business plan that works and give good results soon. You find ways to promote yourself that are easy and enjoyable and learn the right way to work a business. A real one that grows and grows in many directions.

What happened to you?

Well, you just lost your ego. Your amazing power to make each of your dreams come true can now arise and materialize. Obviously you don’t need this article at all but if you feel still included in the second paragraph, maybe you should keep on reading this

Surprising, ah? If you ask yourself too much things like Why do I never have luck? or Why does this always happen to me?, maybe you are letting that little child control your life.

The key to personal (and world) happiness is putting that child to rest letting it flow through creative activities, love and self  acceptation, but making choices with a higher conscience. Good choices bring happiness to us and good energy to the Universe, that will flow back to us through opportunities helping us achieve our full potential. As artists, we are even more inclined than many other people to reach a higher state of consciousness, so it should be easier for us to understand this facts.

1: You can always make it better.
Ego says: It’s very very good but really, how good you are? This is a very competitive world and you must be objective about the quality of your work. How can your jewels be improved? Can they be safer? Have you double-checked everything before you package it? Are you selling something that may eventually break or fall off?
Remember that the kind of customer that you will die for is one that looks for quality and durability. A very good question to ask yourself is Would I pay that money for this jewel?

2: You can always treat your customers better.
Ego says making that custom gift box is really hard work, and for free! Please, be more respectful with your customers! Some of the money they pay for a (never forget that) completely unnnecessary item you sell is very hard-earned! From all the jewelers around they are chosen YOU! There is always time to add and extra gift for a good customer. As artisans we need customers that come back again and again, and that always think of you first when they need a special jewel for their social events or gifts. We need a customer that speaks wonderfully of our work and bring new customers with them so, what do people find when they meet you, whether if the meeting is at your studio or at your booth? Treat them all the same, whether if they make big of small buyings. Know them as much as you can and try to put all your best efforts to make them feel at home with you.

3. Work hard to find your own style.
Ego says h, my style is truly unique! but the truth is that there is almost no such thing in jewelry business, or in any art business. Finding your own way includes a LOT of constant learning and humility. Strive to make the jewel you really dream of and do not feel pressured by what you can sell or whom you can sell to. If your pieces breath uniqueness they will sell out.

4. Give and Teach as much as you take and learn from others.
Ego says h, if I share my techniques everyone will make copys of my work and sell more than me for sure Really, have you heard how childish that sounds? Change your view about yourself and ask yourself if someone could envision you as a master in your particular style.

Sharing your techniques, whether as downloadable files for small prices (tutorials are usually very cheap) or simply for free like I doing now, will not only improve your business karma wonderfully, but also will make you get a lot of respect from learners and professionals alike. Building a good reputation will mean a good percentage of your sales one day, but you have to start now.

5: Forget about inspiration
Ego says: I am an artist, I can’t work if I uninspired well, and Pablo Picasso said inspiration exists, but it has to find you working. Who do you believe? I chose to believe Master Pablo, of course. Inspired or not, work everyday. I am sure there are a lot of office issues like web updating, taking better pictures of your items, making tags or whatever that you have pending, as we all have, that you can make it on your uninspired time. My husband is an electrician company director and he goes to work everyday, whether if he are inspired or not! Why should I have that privilege?

6. You can make your own ways to sell and promote your work
Ego says as an artist, I can’t deal with sales and publicity. That are not what an artist is supposed to be. Something I really hear a lot. I truly believe that, as artists, we are even more able to sell ourselves than other professionals because creativity is the real key to publicity success. The true instinct to find beauty is inside every true artist. Though I think is essential to read a good quantity of marketing articles, we have an ability to create that is a natural advantage. Again, change your point of view about yourself and create new ways to promote your work.

7. Don’t take critiques personally
Ego says yh, that person I don’t know at all thinks my jewelry is awful am a complete failure! Well, you don’t like everything, so don’t expect your jewelry to be loved by everyone. What a person says about your work may be influenced by many things that do not have to do with your work at all. Be always ready to follow positive advice inmediatly, but don’t let other people are feelings reflect on you self image. Remember, maybe that person is also talking through her/his little angry child!

Epilogue
Learning the business takes time and effort. There is no instant success and if there is, it will pass soon leaving you wondering what you did wrong and making you learn another good lesson  which should always be seen as a valuable thing. I am personally guilty and all crimes said above and in many, many more that have turned into a deeper knowledge of myself, my work as an artist and the world around me. I am very proud of all my mistakes, in fact!

We all are on an endless road of personal growing, with no finish line. There is always someone wiser than us and someone that may need our advice as well. I really hope this article helps you in your way to reach complete success; knowing that you抳e found your way is one of the highest feelings a person can have and you deserve to have it too.

Make a Necklace Display

Re. home-jewelry-business-success-tips.com

I made this necklace display that can be used for showing your work at jewelry shows and parties. It's also a great prop for photographing your jewelry. This necklace bust is very inexpensive, and takes less than an hour to make:

1.Trace the pattern shown in Figure 2 onto a piece of cardboard and cut it out. The pattern here is 25 cm high x 28 cm wide, but feel free to make your necklace bust taller or shorter than shown here.

2.Glue fabric to the front of your display. Imitation leather, velour, or satin can make your display look really elegant. If you choose imitation leather, you have to use a very strong glue, otherwise it doesn't hold at the folds. In Figure 3, you can see the bare cardboard on the back of mine.

3.Punch a hole in each of the two the bottom corners, as indicated on the pattern.

4.Run a knitting needle or the back of your scissors over the lines at the top and each side of your necklace display, so they will be easy to fold. (See the lines in Figure 2.)

5.Carefully fold back the sides and top along these fold lines.

6.Thread a piece of string or elastic through the two holes and tie the string ends together, as shown in Figure 3, to hold the sides back and make your necklace display stand upright.

7.Adorn your fabulous new necklace bust with a piece of jewelry!

Ideas for Body Jewelry Displays
Re. home-jewelry-business-success-tips.com

I recently participated in my first craft fair, and after looking for the best jewelry display ideas ... I created my own from items I already had around, with some help from Home Depot and AC Moore.

Most of my "inspiration" was born from the fact that I live in a smallish apartment with ZERO storage space and have a smallish car. Huge, wieldy displays were not an option. I also like things to be multi-purpose. So my jewelry display comes apart and stores most of the pieces in itself.

Here are the main components I used:
1.Queen-Sized Black Sheet
I went to a discount store and bought a set of sheets for $30, so I didn't have as much choice. My sheet is also silky, which was a tad irritating due to snagging issues, but didn't attract any dust or fuzzies, which was a HUGE bonus. The other set I'd looked at was already covered in fuzzies, so I quickly turned it down.

2.Two Wooden Crates
After looking around my apartment for ideas, my wooden crates caught my eye. I painted them black for this display. Upon further reflection, I'd recommend sanding them quite a bit, it snagged my tablecloth/sheet.

To you,i really recommend tiffany jewerly such as:
I think it looks nice, holds up the long wooden board, and raises the display to eye level.
It also displayed my jewelry cards - I create my own jewelry cards on Photoshop and attach each pendant to the card describing it.

3.Long Wooden Board
This goes across the two crates. I did not attach them in any way, because the weight on top of it keeps it secure. I chose to use Modge Podge to decoupage pages ripped out of old and ruined books. It took a VERY long time to do, but it was an easy step to do while watching TV or something else rather mindless.

4.Necklace Display Board
This is attached to the long wooden board. To create it, I purchased another wooden board, which I covered in batting for padding and a silk lining from an ugly skirt (cheaper to recycle than buy new stuff!). They're just stapled onto the back. Nails or pins hold necklace chains to display some necklaces.

To you,i really recommend Tiffany Jewelery such as:

Choosing Colors for Your Jewelry Display

Choosing Colors for Your Jewelry Display
Re. home-jewelry-business-success-tips.com

To enjoy the dignity Tiffany Jewelery bring you,you just need a:
Tiffany Pendant,Tiffany Co Rings,Tiffany Cuff links

Tip #1:
I used to buy black fabric to cover my jewelry tables (I guess like everyone else does) and I thought it looked pretty good.

My wife buys her fabric at WalMart for $1/yd (marked down because there is only 2 or 3 yds left on the bolt) and she chooses jewel-tone satins like dark red, deep green, golds, silvers, dark blue... and depending on the venue of the show we're doing she covers the tables to match the local decor.

It truly comes out beautifully and the colors really add to the Jewelry rather than take away from it.

Tip #2:
One day I saw my wife outside picking through some medium-sized rocks in our yard. She told me she had a great idea.

She brought in several rocks between 8" - 10" wide, some with smooth edges some with sharp edges. She then proceeded to clean and then paint the rocks with FLAT gold paint (with a brush, not spray) and with FLAT black paint. As I watched her paint the rocks, I thought, "Uhhhhh, I don't know about this!"

After the paint dried, my wife retrieved several pieces of jewelry and laid them across the rocks. She surrounded each large rock with smaller painted rocks, seashells and glass pebbles. The effect is amazing!

Now between our many black velvet displays we have a bunch of rocks, shells and pebbles with my jewelry designs spread out among them.

Sales have increased since we started using Alicia's painted rocks!

Jewelry Cases

Jewelry Cases
Re. home-jewelry-business-success-tips.com

Jewelry cases are probably the best display solution for your more expensive pieces of jewelry. In addition to the advantage of protecting against theft and damage, they create an impression of high-value jewelry.

Now,the hotest saled Tiffany Jewelery are:

1.Jewelry Display Cases Enhance Your Booth
Jewelry cases come in a variety of styles and designs, specialized for different types of jewelry. Many of them are configured to display quite a bit of jewelry while using only a small footprint of space on your table.

You might think that jewelry cases could deter sales because customers may be hesitant to ask you to open them and take out jewelry for them to see. But seeing jewelry behind glass enhances the customer’s impression of the jewelry’s value - after all, it’s rare to find costume jewelry locked in a glass case!

2.Jewelry Cases for Storing Your Pieces
Jewelry cases are also a handy way to store your jewelry when you’re not displaying it at shows. (Keep some anti-tarnish strips in each case and change them every three to six months too keep your jewelry metals from dulling.)

If you keep your cases loaded with jewelry between shows, you’re ready to display your work at a moment’s notice. Whenever a customer calls to see if they can come by your house to do some jewelry shopping, it’s easy to just get out your loaded jewelry cases to show them your inventory.

Pre-loaded jewelry cases also make your booth set-up time much shorter when you do shows.

Be sure to keep the spare set of keys that come with your jewelry cases in a safe place—ideally in a place that will be with you when you do shows (such as your wallet or cash register / money pouch). Just be sure the spare keys aren’t hundreds of miles away at home when your display is all set up at a show! You don't want to have to break the glass to get into your jewelry cases.

The Art of Organic Jewelry

The Art of Organic Jewelry

If gold and silver jewelry is too expensive, then organic jewelry can provide the same decoration for a much cheaper price. Organic jewelry started from the Native Americans by using connecting simple seashells together. Today, organic jewelry has evolved into a major role in the fashion industry. The most popular type of organic jewelry today would be in the form of pearls.

Through the organic jewelry is very attractive, but for me,i would like the tiffany&co sliver jewelry only including:Tiffany Jewelery,Tiffany Pendants,Tiffany Rings,Tiffany Cufflinks

Where do pearls come from? Pearls come from an irritation in an oyster's shell. The irritation is then covered with calcium carbonate which after many years turns into a pearl. Pearls were first used for jewelry by the Native Americans that first settled the land. Thousands of years later, they are now considered a must-have fashion accessory.

Pearls are used in many forms of jewelry including Necklaces, bracelets, and rings.

Pearl necklaces are very popular, and they come in a variety of forms such as Bib, Choker, Matinee, Opera, Princess, and Rope.

Pearl bracelets also work very well as fabulous fashion accessories. The classic single strand of different pearls can be used to match any outfit.

You can never go wrong with a pearl ring. A gorgeous pearl ring set with gold or sterling silver will made any woman happy.

If pearls are not your thing, there are many other forms of organic jewelry such as bamboo and hardwood. Bamboo is not considered a type of wood, but is instead a type of grass. There are many types of bamboo that are yellow, tan, green, brown, and even purple providing a great fashion accessory. The most common use of bamboo for organic jewelry is earrings. Although they are relatively easy to take care for, the wearer has to re oil the earring periodically for easy insertion. If you like designs, bamboos can have great designs burnt in them. The best part is that bamboo earrings only cost around fifteen dollars.

A more expensive alternative to bamboo is actual hardwood. Wood plugs are usually hand crafted and each piece is unique. Plugs work best on dry areas of the body like ears and might cause an allergic reaction. Like bamboo, hardwood jewelry has to be re oiled from time to time. Common oils used are olive oil, peanut oil, and jojoba oil. There are six major types of wood used for jewelry: Chakte Kok, Chechon, Ebony, Granadillo, Katalox and Maple each of these a different color.

ChakteKok is a glowing reddish yellow and is lightweight. Chechen is brown and gives a natural look. Ebony is black and is the heaviest. Grandillo is dark brown. Katalox is very dark brown and is almost black. Katalox is the rarest type and is hard to obtain. Maple is light brown and is almost yellow.

If you're interested in wood plugs, they come in many different shapes: Saddle shaped, cylinder shaped, flared, nail shaped, taper shaped, and spike shaped. When ordering wood plugs, you must specify in diameter and length. These are just a few examples of modern organic jewelry. There are many other types of organic jewelry including bones, horns, stone, and amber. While each type of organic jewelry is different, they all serve as a great alternative to expensive silver and gold jewelry.

All About Celtic Jewelry

All About Celtic Jewelry

The Celts have a long history full of traditions and rituals. An extension of these traditions that lives on today is Celtic jewelry. A reflection of their rich history and culture, Celtic jewelry make beautiful Celtic jewelry that usually consist of intricate Celtic symbols and designs. Celtic rings, for example, have very intricate patterns of knots, spirals, chevrons and scrolls with each carrying it's own meaning. Such uniquely designed jewelry possess irresistable charm and appeal to both men and women of all cultures, not just the Irish. Well-made, authentic Celtic jewelry make perfect gifts for anyone who loves jewelry.

Many jewelry designs of the ancient Celts carry great significance. We will explore the most popular jewelry designs and the meanings behind them.

First, the Celtic spiral. The Celtic spiral represents eternity. Spirals are a common Celtic symbol and any type of jewelry can have a spiral inscribed.

Next we have the Celtic cross, which came about two centuries before the Christian cross. It is a popular piece of jewelry that is believed to increase knowledge, wisdom, and fortitude.

Another popular design used in Celtic jewelry are Celtic knots. The intricacy of these designs make them both fashionable and timeless jewelry works of art. There is no definite information on the actual meaning of looping Celtic knots but these are believed to ward off evil spirits or bring eternity and interconnectedness to its wearer. The lack of documentation on these designs simply add to the mystery and widespread appeal of these wonderful jewelry pieces. Claddagh rings are beloved Celtic symbols and its meaning is the well-documented. Claddagh designs consist of a heart (representing love) and are topped by a crown (representing loyalty) which are both held by two hands (representing friendship). It should certainly be of no surprise that Claddagh rings make popular engagement and wedding bands. The symbolism and beauty of these rings have resulted in a growth of newlyweds-to-be buying these as wedding rings around the world. It is also known to be a great gift between good friends. Often, the gift is given along with the saying "Let love and friendship reign". How a Claddagh ring is worn carries deep significance as well. When the ring is worn on the right hand with the heart facing outward, it shows that the wearer is unattached. If the heart is turned inward, it shows that he or she is already attached. When the ring is worn on the left hand with the heart turned inward, it shows two loves joined in marriage.

With the timeless elegance and history behind Celtic jewelry, it is certainly an excellent reason for anyone looking for jewelry to choose it over traditional jewelry pieces for their loved one.

But for me,i would like tiffany&co sliver jewelry only,i just like the dignity it brings me.

14 Features You Need Consider In Earring Displays

14 Features You Need Consider In Earring Displays
Re. home-jewelry-business-success-tips.com

Earring displays can be as original as the jewelry they exhibit. If you’re deciding what kind you want, take some time to consider the rest of your jewelry display, and the style and amount of earrings you have.
Earring Display Features to Consider

1.Visibility of the earrings on display
2.Portability of the display
3.How many pairs of earrings the display can hold
4.Durability, if the earring display will be traveling to a lot of shows
5.Stability in a stiff breeze, if you’ll be displaying outdoors
6.Size of the earring display, and how much of a footprint it takes up on the table
7.Whether the earring display coordinates well with the jewelry on it
8.How well your earring cards (if you use them) fit on the display
9.Whether the earring display coordinates well with the rest of your jewelry display
10.Ease of getting earrings on and off their display
11.Ease of loading the display with earrings at home and transporting it loaded to show
12.Ability to organize earrings by color or style
13.Ability to make earring prices known
14.Ability to display earrings near pieces they match (for add-on selling)

I’ve seen all kinds of interesting earring displays. There are the standard lazy-susan style of revolving racks with bars for hanging earring cards. These are popular because they’re attractive but unobtrusive, they look professional, and they hold a lot of earrings while using only a small amount of table space. You can get these pretty inexpensively from jewelry display suppliers if you shop around and compare prices.

The
